Rider profile:
When did you start riding Motorcycles?
If scooters count, I started in college with a little Italian named Vespa. Bought my first bike shortly after graduating, a 1969 Black and Chrome 650cc BSA Lightning.
How did you get into doing distance riding?
Probably began with the influence of my dad when I was growing up. While he never owned a motorcycle, he would think nothing of hopping in the car and driving all day and into the night for a weekend outing. One summer, he packed my brother and I in the car and took us on a eight-week cross country trip. My father was an enthusiastic and tireless driver and I’d like to think some of it rubbed off. Shortly after buying my first bike in NYC, I strapped a bag on the back and took off on a lark to Canada.
What do you like most about long distance riding?
So many things. First, there really is nothing like the open road. It's a total escape from the grind of everyday life. Each trip is an adventure, sometimes even more than you bargain for! Above all, long distance riding stimulates all the senses and puts you the moment. For me it’s a kind of meditation. And, of course, long distance riding is also a great way to meet new people and see new places. It definitely appeals to my vagabond nature.

Do you belong to any organizations or clubs?
IBA (Iron Butt Association), AMA (American Motorcyclist Association), ACA (American Canoe Association).
What is your biggest accomplishment?
Only rider to finish a 2-up Iron Butt 100 CCC (coast-to-coast and back in under 100 hours.) You can read the report at http://www.bsu.edu/web/00amleduc/mtf/50cc/reports/glass03.htm

What would you tell other riders who wish to "go the distance"?
Don't make it too complicated. Just get out there and do it. And, oh yeah, get a Ventura Pack to put your stuff in. (How’s that for a shameless plug?)
Ventura Profile:
When did you start using Ventura Motorcycle Accessories?
January, 2003.
What made you choose Ventura Products?
Positive comments from fellow riders on the Internet.
How has Ventura products helped you along the way?
It’s the most convenient way I’ve found to carry my stuff. I use my Ventura pack almost every day. It’s been cross country twice and cross town hundreds of times.
What is the most unusual thing you have ever carried in your Ventura pack?
A 17" computer monitor.
What are your favorite features about Ventura Products?
First, the quick release design. It’s on an off in seconds, and the backpack styling with shoulder straps make it easy to carry around. I also like the fact that the bags are so expandable; you can put an incredible amount of stuff in these bags. And they look great! The high tech look is a perfect match for my sleek Hayabusa.
Is there anything you would like to add?
Only that I'm very rough on gear and my Ventura bag has held up perfectly no matter how much I stuff or abuse it. These bags are tough!
